At North Middle School Health Sciences & Technology Campus we believe that in order for our children to succeed, a partnership between the school, parents and community, must be present.

We understand that because of work schedules or other commitments, parents sometimes cannot be present in school during the day or evening, but everyone can be involved in their child’s education.

The first level of involvement is at home. Making sure your children attend school every day and on time, asking them about their school day, and making sure they do their homework every day, are the first steps to success. Also keeping in contact with the school helps to ensure your child stays on track to succeed.

 The second level of involvement is attending events such as Back to School Night, Parent/Teacher Conferences, Parent Coffees, and Parent University. These activities were designed to give parents the tools necessary to help their child reach excellence in education.

The third level of involvement is based upon our belief that every parent has the potential to become a leader. Leadership is expressed in many different ways and we can help you to be ready for new challenges while helping us to continue to make our school an even better place to be. This is where parents can choose to take part in the following committees:

 Parent Leadership Committee (PLC) - We meet once a month at 6:00 p.m. over pot-luck dinner and discuss ways we can make our school better! This group is responsible for coordinating committees and volunteers, fundraising, and recruiting other parents or family members to get involved in the school.

North Accountability and Advisory Committee (NAAC) This committee meets with the principal and other staff members to discuss business as it pertains to academic programming, assessment data, policies, and procedures. They will also take part in critical decision making processes that affect the whole school.

 Volunteering – There are many areas where we need your help. The following are a few examples: *Help with mailings and other duties in the main office. *Lunch supervision in the cafeteria and playground. *Help in the classrooms as needed. *Help meet with other parents to get them involved in the school as well.  *Help plan and organize other family events.
