Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education (CLDE)

CLDE MISSION

We believe that ALL students should receive equitable and appropriate instructional support. In ELD, our goal is to educate all multilingual learners and respect their cultural legacies and linguistic skills. We work on the development of students’ proficiency in the four areas of communication: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. We strive for all multilingual learners to acquire high levels of English proficiency that allow them to communicate successfully in all academic and social settings.

We are committed to promoting English language acquisition and ensuring academic achievement in inclusive schools that are culturally and linguistically diverse. This is accomplished through a strong collaborative process based on solid and current research, sustained through evaluation, reflection, and revision, to ensure growth for all students.

PARTNERING WITH THE APD WELCOME CENTER

The Aurora Public Schools Welcome Center (APSWC) strives to make the transition for new immigrant and refugee students to Aurora Public Schools (APS) as comfortable and successful as possible.

After registration at Centralized Admission, the Aurora Public Schools Welcome Center provides newcomer students and parents with an orientation to the United States educational system and Aurora Public Schools. The APSWC also collects information of family background and students’ educational history, and any relevant information that may impact student learning. This background information will enable teachers to support their newcomer students to their best ability.
