INCLEMENT WEATHER PROCEDURES
When extreme cold or snowy weather is in the forecast, the APS Support Services team will begin assessing weather conditions just after midnight to determine the impact on district operations. Should a recommendation be made to delay or close schools, Superintendent Munn will make the decision as early as possible.
If a decision is made to delay or close schools, the APS Communications Team will share information about the decision by contacting local media, notifying staff and parents via our automated calling system and posting the announcements on the APS website, Facebook and Twitter.
DELAYED START: Should Superintendent Munn make the decision to delay the start of school, the school day would begin one hour later than the scheduled start time. Staff members should arrive at their schools or sites at their normal start times or as close to their regular start times as is safely possible. APS buses would pick up students one hour later than normal. Schools would dismiss at their regularly scheduled times.
SCHOOL CLOSURE: Should Superintendent Munn determine that a closure is necessary, all classes and activities would be canceled. However, certain essential personnel in the Division of Support Services would still report to work.
