Math

Students take multiple math skills from an introductory level to a deeper understanding throughout their middle school  years. Students work on developing skills using various mathematical avenues. Skills include number sense, proportionality, geometry, and statistics.  Students will work individually and in groups to solve problems in geometry, algebra, proportional thinking, statistics. Students will develop a deep understanding of integers, rational, and irrational numbers, and solve problems using these number sets.

Mathematicians in all grades will be using habits of mind and habits of interaction to solve problems.  These include finding multiple pathways to solve problems, making sense of the problems, persevering, and making mathematical connections between standards.

In eighth grade students will have developed into problem solvers, who use precision and accuracy in their work as well as visual representations.  Lastly, students  practice real world linear relationships in order to become smart consumers.
